2008 was a turning point for me... I had my 50th birthday and I remember thinking “Holy Crap, where did all of that time go?!!”
My lifelong passion was to pursue a career in music, and it seemed like it was time for me to decide if it was finally time or finally too late?
I was way out of shape, and many years of little exercise, late nights and unhealthy eating habits had taken a toll on me. I was over 40 pounds overweight with very little energy! I was more than a bit discouraged and disappointed about how I had lost sight of my dream.
I decided to forget about looking back and regretting and instead focus on seeing this time in my life as am amazing opportunity to grow and learn.
I realized that if I was going to have the energy and time to build a music career at this stage in my life, I needed to make a plan to get healthy and make time to work on my music, and since making that decision, music and fitness have become my dual passions.
Of course there’s a ton of information available online, but I found that it was hard to find materials directed at people my age, especially information for people like me, who wanted to improve their health and nutrition, but hadn’t had any experience working out and who were also looking for direction and inspiration to live their dreams.
I made a lot of mistakes, learned a lot of lessons and finally made time to educate myself to obtain Personal Training Specialist, Active Aging Coach and Healthy Eating Coach certifications through CanFitPro. The Live Centre Stage project is dedicated to sharing what I’m discovering on this journey with programs for improving health, fitness and nutrition along with creativity videos to help my fellow mid and post midlifers thrive at this terrific time in our life! It’s like being a kid again only better!
